Playa del Carmen news

Playa del Carmen has everything you could possibly need on a vacation!

What we propose in this page is an example of how to enjoy 10 days of vacation in Playa del Carmen. So, make sure you bring a good camera: you will have many opportunities for great pictures!
This pre-made itinerary is an excellent resource for your trip-planning!

With so many attractions in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya, it might seem a bit challenging to pick what places you absolutely have to visit.
Whether you like to snorkel, dive, golf or just lounge on the beach, there is so much to do and see that you will want to return many times to this tropical paradise.

Located on the beautiful Mexican Caribbean coast some 40 miles (60 km.) south of Cancun, Playa, as it is now affectionately known, is the perfect base from which to explore the fascinating sites along the Cancun -Tulum Corridor of Quintana Roo (now called Mayan Riviera).

At your arrival our front desk staff will welcome you with a drink. Bernardo, Mariana, Anna or Jessica will be more than happy to answer any question and give you the best recommendations for your vacation in Playa del Carmen.
We suggest you rent a car to visit the beautiful beaches and cenotes of the Riviera Maya. The highway is easy for driving, and this way you will have no limits on how much time you decide to stay in each place. Among the beaches we suggest are: Xpu-ha, Tank-ha, miles of beaches at south of Tulum's ruins, and Yal-ku lagoon in Akumal for great snorkeling. However, if you feel safer or more relaxed by not driving, or you want to visit areas not very close to Playa, we suggest you take an organized tour; ask front desk for all options.

Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve

Up for an adventure? Here's a trip off the beaten path. The first excursion that we recommend you is, especially in this period of the year, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve.

The Biosphere faces the greatest challenge of conservation!
"Sian Ka'an" is translated from Mayan as "where the sky is born" or "gift from the sky". Located on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, this biosphere reserve contains tropical forests, mangroves and marshes, as well as a large marine section intersected by a barrier reef.

You will go by boat searching for wild bottle nose dolphins (charismatic and interesting animals) and then look for caguama and white turtle; bird watching is also very popular: you will have the opportunity to see these birds during mating season and nesting. Species include the pelican, cormorant, flamingo, spoon bill, eagles, parrots and herons.
Snorkeling is one of the easiest, safest and most delightful ways to explore the aquatic wilderness. If you cannot swim, no worries.
Once in the water, you will never want to get out!

Riviera Maya, Xcaret Park

Xcaret Eco Theme Park is full of Mexico! Just 10 minutes away from Playa del Carmen is the most beautiful park of the Mayan Riviera. A wide range of activities, animals and diversions feature this amazing park!

You can open a window in to the flora and fauna of the Riviera Maya! Aquarium, Butterfly Pavilion, Deer Shelter, Jaguar Island, Tapir House, Regional Wildlife Enclosure, Mayan Village, Xpá - Xcaret Spa, and then... the best, experience the magical sensation of swimming with dolphins!
Does it end here?!?!?!
No, because Xcaret's Spectacular Night comes at the end of an entire day full of adventures at the Eco Park. In the Valley of the Scents, the deep call of pre-Hispanic drums resonates in the night air and the wind carries the notes of ocarinas, bells and conch shells. The priests and Mayan warriors, wrapped in incense smoke, announce an unprecedented cultural and historic journey in the Grand Tlachco, the large theatre that has a seating capacity of 6,000. Accompanied by the song of conch shells and other pre-Hispanic musical instruments, Mayan children open the show singing in chorus an ancestral legend...
In sum, Xcaret represents Mexico's culture, traditions, flora and fauna.

Don't miss it!

Sunset Dinner Cruise

You will leave from Cancun, but what we offer here is something unforgettable..
Imagine you and your partner sailing in a protected bay area in the Caribbean, enjoying your favorite cocktails and snacks.
The sky's beautiful hues at sunset will be picture perfect as you relax to the sounds of live entertainment. Then it is back to beach for a candlelit dinner of lobster or steak or a combination of both. Enjoy the best dinner you ever had in a beautiful corner of the Caribbean ...

Mayan Encounter

Your encounter with the Maya culture starts with a 1,500 year-old historical journey to the ancestral city of Cobá, an archaeological site hidden deep inside the rain forest of south-eastern Yucatan Peninsula.
Walking through these vegetation-covered ruins you will literally feel the ancient rhythms of this once strong Maya city-state.
Climbing the Nohoch Muul temple (the tallest pyramid of the state), you will be able admire the pristine beauty and immeasurable vastness of the surrounding sub-tropical rain forest.
Your Mayan Encounter journey then leads you to an authentic Maya village, a self-sufficient Maya community living next to an integral part of the region's lagoon system. You will walk through the Maya community's forest, learning the mysteries of their local fauna and flora.
Your unforgettable off-track adventure tour then begins: exciting zip-line flying over an incredibly beautiful cenote, rappelling down into another cenote, a refreshing swim and canoe paddling on a lagoon of enormous beauty. All that completed with a traditional lunch prepared by the women of this Maya community.

By yourself we suggest - Cozumel, isla Mujeres, Tulum
